Dame Judith Hackitt's Review of Building Regulations
Following the Grenfell fire, Dame Judith Hackitt was asked by the Secretary of State for the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to conduct an independent review into the current Building Regulations and Fire Safety, and to produce a report making recommendations on the future regulatory system.

Dame Judith Hackitt's interim report was published in December 2017 and she commented, 'As the review has progressed, it has become clear that the whole system of regulation, covering what is written down and the way in which it is enacted in practice, is not fit for purpose, leaving room for those who want to take shortcuts to do so.'

Dame Judith's full report was published in May 2018 and attempted to bring changes to current Building and Fire Safety Regulations and impact on Government legislation in these areas.
